BUILDING SELF-ESTEEM IN THE
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Teachers' Guide
This is a complete program for developing self-esteem in grades
K-8. The
program
has had over 25 years of extensive testing and development
proving its
effectiveness. Results show that the program can be effective
in improving
school climate, reducing discipline problems, drug abuse,
school
dropouts, and other deviant behavior. It is in the form of a binder
containing
150 blackline reproducible masters. This makes it an extremely
easy program
to use. Each binder can be shared by up to three teachers,
so it can
easily be implemented by an entire school at relatively little cost.
The Teachers' Guide that accompanies the binder provides background information
with alternate ways in which the
self-esteem activities can be integrated into the
regular
instructional program. Ways of assessing student
self-esteem, and
checklists to help the teacher improve his/or her effectiveness in developing
student
self-esteem are also included.
The program is available in Spanish,
French,
Arabic,
and Slovene.
