HOW TO CREATE
AN ENVIRONMENT THAT MAXIMIZES HUMAN EFFECTIVENESS
We will learn of a five-step process that administrators and teachers can use to
build morale and foster self-esteem, morale, and motivation in individuals to
enable them to achieve peak performance. This model, with over 25 years of
research behind it, has proven to result in safer environments and reduce
discipline problems by 30-50%. It has also been shown to reduce the likelihood
of drug and alcohol abuse, teenage pregnancy, dropouts, and suicide.
DISCOVERING
THE POWER WITHIN
Your level of personal self-esteem makes a difference in how you relate to
others and how you perform your role as an employee, parent, or supervisor. The
impact of self-esteem on our behavior as we perform our respective roles will be
explored. Practical suggestions for becoming your own source of self-esteem by
enhancing the five critical elements of self-esteem will be shared. These will
enable you to be more effective in your job performance and better able to
withstand the pressures placed upon you by others.
STRATEGIES
FOR BUILDING STUDENT MOTIVATION AND SELF-ESTEEM
Today Greater numbers of children have experienced the ravages of family
separation and divorce, have been uprooted and moved, and suffered from the lack
of a nurturing environment. It is therefore critical that we adopt strategies
that effectively compensate for the loss of feelings of self-worth, security,
connectedness, and motivation that result. Here is a model with 25 years of
field testing that has proven to be effective in accomplish that. Specific
strategies, materials, and suggestions will be provided that can be applied at
any grade level.
DEVELOPING
CONFIDENT AND SELF-RELIANT CHILDREN
Being a parent today is becoming far more difficult than ever before. This
workshop will focus on what research tells us about the key parenting skills
that reduce the likelihood of children engaging in problem behaviors. It will
also include suggestions on what we can do to become more esteeming as parents.
Specific suggestions for parents on how to develop children with self-motivation
and high self-esteem will be discussed.
HOW TO
NURTURE SELF-ESTEEM IN OURSELVES AND OTHERS
Most administrators have been trained in how to manage employees, but few of us
have been trained to foster the human qualities required in today’s
world—esteem, motivation, personal responsibility, caring and support for
others, and commitment to personal excellence. This workshop for supervisors
presents a framework for building our own self-esteem and explores ways to apply
the framework to staff. The application of this process results in higher staff
morale, greater motivation, and increased cooperation among employees.
E.Q. AND
I.Q.: CREATING CONDITIONS FOR PEAK PERFORMANCE
The level of I.Q. may not be the major factor that determines mental
functioning. There is now evidence that we can significantly raise or lower the
level of intellectual functioning according to the conditions we establish in
the classroom. This workshop will describe those critical conditions that
contribute to peak intellectual performance and provide suggestions to maximize
that performance and the social and emotional development of student of all
ages.
WHAT RESEARCH
HAS TO SAY ABOUT SELF-ESTEEM
This workshop reviews over 1000 studies related to self-esteem and crime and
violence, school dropouts, vandalism, teenage pregnancies, drug and alcohol
abuse, suicide, eating disorders, and gang activity. Factors that either
destroy or enhance self-esteem will be identified and effective strategies
demonstrated.
HOW TO BUILD
A SCHOOLWIDE WELLNESS PROGRAM
This presentation addresses all the aspects of a school that contribute or
detract from positive mental health in staff and students. It addresses issues
related to discipline, school policies, grouping, instructional strategies,
staff morale, and how to evaluate and monitor student and staff attitudes.
Strategies to reduce violence, conflict, lack of motivation, and burnout will be
demonstrated.
A NEW VISION
FOR THE WORKPLACE
Today we need to create learning and work environments that energize and
empower, that capitalize on diversity, that increase wellness, and that maximize
human effectiveness. A framework for achieving such environments with insights
and proven strategies will be shared. Behaviors that inspire and motivate
adults to achieve at peak performance, work together more cooperatively, and act
more responsibly will be demonstrated.
HOW TO AVOID ADMINISTRATOR BURNOUT AND DISCOURAGEMENT
Administrators today need specific strategies that reduce stress, tension, and burnout associated with the job. Factors that contribute to frustration, being overwhelmed, and discouragement will be identified. Strategies for dealing with the pressures of the job will be explored and ways to strengthen the leadership role of the school administrator will be shared. Personal suggestions will be provide that enable the administrator to achieve and maintain a positive mental attitude in the face of accelerated changed and increased expectations.
HOW TO CREATE HARMONY IN THE CLASSROOM
In most classrooms today one-third of the students spend their energies compensating for feelings of low self-esteem, inadequacy, and rejection. They criticize others and put them down; they find themselves in conflicts; the fail to take personal responsibility for their behavior, and they use deviant ways of gaining attention in order to feel important. This workshop will provide strategies, suggestions, and materials for building cooperative relationships and more positive attitudes in the classroom.
HOW TO BUILD A HEALTHY ORGANIZATION
This presentation describes the characteristics and behaviors of outstanding leaders that result in highly effective organizations. Steps that can be used to overcome the burnout and stress created by budget shortfalls and downsizing will be shared. The exciting process of how schools in one district changed from a state of low morale to one with high motivation and outstanding achievement will be illustrated.
